The Third Tooth

the third tooth was a pyrrhic victory,
shuttling across the twisted hold
injury-draining energy,

the loser (the third tooth) took aim,
my skull became an intricately cracked
rush hour, a balanced pointy-faced egg,
cupped white and brittle churning in
hyperbolic ceremony, flowers
and paisley like my grandfather’s
eyebrows

the liminal pizza cutter
splitting my thoughts into a graphic
fold-out poster, my laughing cerebellum
a red witless eyewitness blooming
gap-mouthed replay

terrible abducted, pinched levitate
the third tooth’s
sunk ocean
